We haven’t seen spy shots of the 2014 BMW 4-series Coupe F32 for a while, now. So today we want to show you some images of the car almost ready for production and wearing a light camouflage. This is the sports version of the new F30 saloon and it looks a bit like a small 6-series. The mule in question has been photographed near Monaco, Germany, before being transported to an internal presentation.
Compared to the current BMW 3-series Coupe E92 this car’s roof line is more slender and has a sportback tail, although is not properly like an Audi A7. The rear side window has been extended to feature an elegant Hofmeister kink. The air intake near the front wheel is one of the most evident novelties of this 4-series Coupe’s design. The door mirrors of the F32 are the same as the F30.
Judging from the Sport Line style and the exhaust pipes, the model in the shots might be a BMW 435i or a 440i. There are some visible differences between the two models: the front bumper has a pronounced black lip below the plate, which might be in carbon fibre. The two front grilles that we have seen in some previous spy photos will be larger and more slender than those on the saloon. The headlights should also be more elongated than those on the F30.
The mule wore 19-inch M Sport wheels fitted with 225 (front) and 255 (rear) tyres. The 435i/440i should fit the same brakes as the F30 335i. The 428i coupé and cabrio versions will be equipped with the same 2.0-litre in-line twin-turbo four-cylinder engine of the F30, but the 435i/440i could show off the next-gen N55 in-line twin-turbo six-cylinder unit. Both engines are available with manual transmission and with the 8-speed automatic transmission, and both with xDrive system.
The BMW 4-series Coupe will go into production in spring and F33 Cabrio will follow shortly after. A concept car could be displayed as early as January at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show.
