According to French website Caradisiac, the Volkswagen Taigun will soon hit production. This indiscretion comes as further confirmation of the many rumors surrounding the model since it first appeared on the scene, with basically everybody agreeing on the high potential of the project.
Apparently, the compact SUV from VW will be launched in Brazil in 2014 and will then debut in Europe one year later with also a 2-cylinder diesel unit. The Volkswagen Taigun measures 3859 mm in length, 1728 mm in width and 1570 mm in height, with a wheel-base of 2470 mm.
Under its hood there will be a turbocharged 1.0-liter 3-cylinder TSI petrol engine with direct injection, credited with an output of 110 hp and 175 Nm of maximum torque. With this unit, the Taigun accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 9.2 seconds, reaching a top speed of 186 km/h (115 mph). Average fuel consumption is rated at 4.5 liters per 100 kilometers.
