Starting from this month, Alfa Romeo Brera and Alfa Romeo Spider will have new additions to the engine range, including the turbo petrol 1750 TBi at 200 hp, and the turbodiesel 2.0 litre JTDM at 170 hp. Both models were presented at the recent Geneva motor show and will soon be seen on the Alfa 159, too.
The 1750 TBi at 200 hp is characterised by its impressive torque of 320 Nm, even at low revs of 1,400 rpm. Direct fuel injection is available along with controlled turbocompressor, dubbed “Scavenging”.
On the Alfa Brera, It has a top speed of 235 km/hr and an acceleration of 7.7 seconds to reach 100 km/hr. The Alfa Spider takes 7.8 seconds to reach 100 km/hr with this engine, while it measures CO2 emissions of 192 g/km. Brera emissions are similar at 189 g/km.
The 2.0 litre JTDM at 170 hp is a development on the 1.9 JTDM. It complies with Euro 5 norms with CO2 emissions of about 142 g/km. Torque is 360 Nm at 1,750 rpm, and the new engine measures a top speed of 218 km/hr. Acceleration is nine seconds for 100 km/hr, and fuel consumption is down to 5.4 litres per kilometre.
The 2009 Alfa Brera and Spider range includes other new features such as VDC, seven airbags, twin zone air conditioning, CD/MP3 radio and sports steering wheel. Other elements are cruise control, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
The Alfa Brera 1750 TBi costs 29,800 euros and the Brera 2.0 litre JTDM at 31,600 euros. The Spider 1750 TBi costs 31,800 euros while the 2.0 JTDM is 33,600 euros. Below are some shots of the new models.
