According to the German newspaper Bild, the Golf VI could arrive in 2008. The reason would be the extremely high competitive pressure in the segment.
The Golf VI might be offered in only two body variants, to keep costs low. One would be the two-door hatchback, sleeker than the current one, almost coupè-like, the second would be a 4 door hatchback, nearer the current Golf Plus.
To comply with stricter emission standards and to lower consumptions and noise, the Golf’s engine will migrate towards a common-rail architecture (instead of the current Pompe-Duse) [Via German Car Blog].
