Volkswagen is building a new factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA, in order to increase its sales in the biggest car market of the world (so far). One of the key products for the German carmaker to achieve its goals is the NMS, or New Mid-size Sedan. This car will not only help Volkswagen in the USA, but will also be sold in South American countries and may give birth for a new compact hatchback cheaper to built than the current Golf VI. Anyway, the car will only start to be sold in 2011, when the factory will be able to operate. Meanwhile, Volkswagen has released the first rendering of the new vehicle.
It is said to be bigger than the current Passat, with a lot of room for people and luggage. Engines will be the FSI and TFSI petrol units and TDI powerplants, in an effort to make diesel vehicles popular in the USA.
