Most carmakers know that having a beautiful car at a reasonable price is not enough for its success. There must also be a top of the range version that inspires people to dream of having that car. Generally, this is a sporty version. Ford used to have that advantage with the SHO (Super High Output) versions of its cars. Now it has brought that idea back with the 2010 Taurus, a car that looks good and is a bargain for what it offers.
The new super saloon will offer 370 bhp at 5,550 rpm and 475 Nm at 3,500 rpm from a 3.5-litre V6. You may ask yourself how can a V6 engine offer as much as a big V8, buy the explanation is not on the engine. It is on the two turbochargers that help it make more of the fuel it uses.
Besides the performance (we still did not have access to fuel consumption), the new Taurus SHO also allows customers in the USA to dream of it. It costs US$ 37,995, a price that is not so high, compared to the competition, especially when you realise this car is also an all wheel drive machine helped by a six-speed gearbox. People all over the world would dream of a 370 bhp sedan for that price…
