According to Autocar, the Alfa Romeo Mi.To GTA will make an appearance at the 2009 Geneva motor show this year and we should be seeing quite a sporty little job. At the Blogger Day in Varano, Italy, in July, Alfa engineers were debating how extreme the GTA should get: and the sports theme has won out according to Autocar.
The GTA should be equipped with the new 1.8 litre turbo with direct injection at 240hp, including electronic differential Q2 and rear wheel drive. The chassis on the Mi.To’s cousin, the Abarth Grande Punto, has already been appreciated by the market, and the MiTo GTA is set to mirror similarly the Fiat model.
Attention has been given to reducing the weight of the car with generous use of carbon and alluminium. Wider spoilers and new aerodynamics should give the hot hatch some spark, perhaps even keeping up with competition from the Mini Cooper S Works, but with a more economical price tag at 28,000 euros.
