When Nouphone J. Bansasine was in his internship in Volvo in 2007, he received a task: to create a new premium product for the Swedish automaker. It must not have been difficult for him to figure out a new niche was emerging, invented by Mercedes-Benz CLS: four-door coupes.
Since then, other competitors have appeared, such as Porsche Panamera, and some others are about to be presented, such as Aston Martin Rapide, Lamborghini Estoque and the future Audi A7, presented in Detroit as the Sportback Concept.
If Volvo had taken into consideration Bansasine’s proposal, it would have a gorgeous vehicle in its range, almost as sexy as the women that appear in its images. In other words, Volvo would be selling the SC90 in huge numbers.
As it is almost obvious, this is (unfortunately) only a design exercise, so there are no technical specs for us to imagine this machine performing in the real world. That will be left to our imagination. And it would not be bad to imagine it with the same 4.4-litre transversally-mounted V8 that power S80 with 315 bhp. Or even something even stronger, why not? With such an appearence, it could even be stationary. We would not like it less!
