Porsche Panamera: debut in Shanghai, April

No swiss runway presentation will occur for the new Porsche Panamera, whose debut was originally planned for the Geneva show. Instead the worldwide presentation has been moved to the Shanghai motorshow that will take place in April.

The reason is purely commercial and will likely prove to be a smart move: with European and American car sales decreasing, the phenomenon of emerging markets seems to be stronger than the automobile crisis; and what better way to capitalise on this than a new sports sedan from one of the world’s greatest car manufacturers?

The Chinese market seems to be one of the healthiest for Porsche, with sales in the financial year 2007-2008 more than doubling, reaching a record of 8,190 units. In the same period, Europe’s rock in the car market and home to Porsche, Germany, experienced a drop of 5.4 percent in sales.
