Renault Megane

The Renault stand at the Paris show has done nothing halfway. There is everything from the Megane, five doors to the coupé, the concept Z.E and plenty of comments either flattering or critical. And the hatchback has (finally) been presented by company president Carlos Ghosn.

We’re quite taken with the three door version, baptised coupĂ© without any sensationalism, which shows off a touch of dynamism and some good looks. The stylistic excesses of the previous generation are a long way away.

The French manufacturer has confirmed that it has relied on a redesign, without compromising comfort, as the 4.3 metre length reveals. The engine range is off the best seller list, including the petrol 1.4 litre Tce turbo compressed with 130hp and 290Nm available from spring 2009, and the diesel dCi with power between 85 and 160hp.
