The comparison with the 599 GTB Fiorano says it all. The Ferrari California is not small at all, and still remains a true Ferrari, 100 percent. From the first images there were some doubts for fans that this coupè cabriolet was really created for a relaxed American clientele: large boot, twin clutch transmission, and rear V8 engine were all elements for doubt about road dynamics.

Ferrari has decided to make a car for everyday use, capable of longer maintenance intervals and able to chew up kilometres without too many problems. And so to the choice of the twin-clutch, to combine passion with comfort. New technical data is emerging, include rebalanced weight, of which 80 percent is centred in the middle. Magnesium has been used to contain overall weight, along with carbon fibre for the seats and carbon-ceramic brakes.

The exhaust system has been kept to stay true to the Ferrari style, poewrful but not exaggerated, melodic without being noisy. As reported by Meaden from Evo, the criticised vertical exhuast is merely a visual solution as the real exhaust is only single.

Latest rumours on the price are of 10,000 more than a Ferrari F430 Coupè, or about 170,000 as already announced. New versions of the California should also emerge, include a manual transmission version, requested by about 10 percent of customers, in addition to the Handling GTC package, that promises a more rigid base, larger tyres, and some additional electronic features.
