Another video for the Alfa Romeo MiTo which continues to play on the gradual leaking of details on the part of users involved by the company, step by step. The video is in Italian but shows off the great driving of the small car.

This time Philippe Krief, tester who we already encountered in a video on the snow at Arjeplog in Lapland, Sweden, shows us the dynamic quality of the Italian car. The tester explains the novelties introduced in suspension to increase rigidity and reduce the body roll compared to the 147, then notes the lower shift chosen for the steering and finally checks off with the AlfaDNA function.

After its Geneva debut here is the official video of the new Skoda, Superb, which will see the introduction of a TDI 4-cylinder Common Rail engine at 140 and 170hp, and an AFS lighting system. Some doubts still remain as to the design but the technical and qualitative components are undeniable. Perhaps the value for money will win against the aesthetic impact…?

Of sure effect is this first official video of the new Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560/4 that the company presented at the beginning of March in Geneva.

The images (which are truly beautiful and studied down to the last detail) are dominated by black and white with the whole package being accompanied by impressive audio. The video does nothing but to exalt the pureness of this splendid supercar’s line that has left us all in agreement on its unquestionable beauty.

Known by know to all long-term Autoblog readers, Chris Harris does a road test of the new Lotus Elise SC, the 220hp supercharged version of the English sportscar which finally adopted the compressed engines from its coupè cousin Exige. On the Elise volumetrics are different, developed exclusively by Lotus and in particular the Exige’s intercooler, which completely closes the driver’s rear vision, is not included.

Positive notes include the performance, combined with reasonable consumption, but of particular attention is the handling, supported by a feather-light weight (although a long way from the Elise S1), and the Yokohama tyres specific to this version.

Chris, in love with the SC, doesn’t take long to praise Lotus’ choice of persuing the aim of lighter and less powerful cars, in such a way as to maintain the sporty characteristics, adapting to the ever more stringent laws on consumption and emission, compared to the German counterparts.

The official blog of the Alfa Mi.To has arrived online, the baby version having finally been revealed last Friday. The most interesting part is definitely the “Meet Mi.To” which allows for some lucky users to discover, and then reveal to others the Mi.To, after having seen it in person at the Centro Stile Alfa.

Navigating through the site the first technical data of the Mi.To can be read: the measurements, as we had already indicated, are 406 x 144 x 172 cm, with a wheelbase of 251, while the trunk and fuel tank capacity are at 270 and 45 litres. A curiosity: it seems that the car can be adapted for both four or five occupants, according to customers’ needs.

For the engines the 1.4 turbo 155 hp has been confirmed, the same as the Abarth Grande Punto. The five cylinder “Euro 5 ready” handles an overboost function, where the Torque passes from 206 to 230 Nm. In the video, Sergio Cravero explains the reasons behind the choice of the name Mi.To.

The Porsche Cayenne GTS represents in some ways the provocative last front in the world of SUVs. With the Cayenne we’ve seen the entry of a paradox, an oxymoron, an open contradiction in the roots of this category of off-road (remember the first ML?) and the extravagance of feeling like you’re on the track.

In one corner of the ring of the Fifth Gear Shootout there is the Cayenne: steel spring technology, PASM, electronic suspension-checks, V8 with direct injection, but with a body lowered by 24mm (to the face of the lightest dirt road). It confronts a more “canonic” BMW X5 4.8i which, despite having 50 bhp less, does 0-100 km/hr in 6.5s - only four-tenths more than the Porsche, thanks to weighing a good 195kg less!! Who would have thought it would prevail on the track?

The BMW can count on excellent traction, guaranteeing road grip on the exit of corners. The example sampled by Vicky was also equipped with electronic suspension and 19″ alloys that did the rest. But the Cayenne, especially in sports mode, when you feel 50bhp extra and the more rigid body structure, it’s a true sports car in disguise.

The ever-jovial and knowledgeable Chris Harris puts the 572 bhp Audi RS6 Station Wagon to the test. During the test-drive Mr. Harris admits that the immense weight of 2025 kg does somewhat compromise the agility and the driving-experience despite the awesome performance figures of the twin-turbocharged V10.

For the most part, it is an easy car to drive in all driving conditions, provided that you do not violently over steer, a problem also
seen in the Audi’s adversary, the BMW M5 Touring.

Autocar’s Chris Harris, whom we have got to know from other interesting test-drives on the website, presents us with a face-off that will really get the fans going. The new Nissan GT-R is pitted against two german competitors. In place of the Porsche 997 Turbo, its ‘natural’ competitor (it has the same horsepower and it was the target of Nissan engineers), we find instead the BMW M3, which is within the same price-range and the Porsche 997 GT3, more extreme and expensive but with a driving experience similar to that of the Japanese monster.

Not everyone has heard of the creature that is the Unimog, a mega-truck produced by Mercedes-Benz and designed for the more ‘hardcore’ user. Well, we suggest they take a look at Fifth Gear’s test-drive, with Tom Ford (Wookie to his friends) who attempts to go along a specially designed course
to discover the limits of the German beast.

The Unimog has been recently ordered by the British Special Forces and the celebrated TV show could not wait to get their hands on this £90,000 super-toy. However, this was not without the supervision of a military driving instructor…

A bit of spec info on the Unimog: The 296bhp Straight 6 engine has an amazing 1120 Nm of Torque. The unit’s 11.9 tons can be pushed to around 55mph (100km/h) on road. Two specifications prove to be the most impressive: the exciting prospect of the “working gears” switch on the dashboard, which
allow the driver to select the range of gears desired depending on the terrain; and the ability to reduce the pressure of the tyres to allow up to 30% more traction on slippery surfaces.

The best part arrives in the final moments of the video when you have the opportunity to see one of the most insane things on four wheels: the Unimog Black Edition, a ‘sport’ version developed by Brabus that puts the seemingly impossible in your hands. Do you perchance have an annoying neighbour? Save
up £160,000 and this monster (which amongst other things has a leather and carbon fibre interior) will finally be at your disposal.

“This is the sexiest, most desirable, most fabulous-looking car you can buy today”. This is how Fifth gear start by describing the Maserati Granturismo and for the most part we agree. The whole focus of the Maserati GT is on comfort, with ample passenger space and an extremely quiet engine on the inside. However, in a world where the BMW M3 offers much more engine power with a much lighter body resulting in greater performance for a lower price, the Maserati seems to be outdone.

I know we are talking about a GT but the balance between driving pleasure and driving comfort is perhaps weighted a little too much towards the latter. At the end of the day the Trident shows itself off proudly on the Maserati’s body leading us to expect a bit more pep in what instead feels more like a lumbering cruiser – powerful, yet unable to perform when needed and rather emotionally unsatisfying. To be precise, it has the feel of a 4-door car that is missing two doors.

However, if it is more pep you are after, perhaps there is a solution after all. In contrast to many other cars where the sport-mode button is there almost for decorative purposes, in the Maserati GT it really finds its raison d’être. When the sport-mode is activated, the steering, suspension and acceleration all sharpen up drastically, making it altogether more satisfying when pushing it to the limit. Unfortunately two problems remain: the Maserati’s excessive weight and the lack of power from its 4.2 V8 which stops it from being top of its category when you compare it to the engines of its competitors. We do however anticipate news of the implementation of a new engine perhaps the 4.7 of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competition that at this moment is being tested in a few prototypes, if our suspicions are correct.
