Peugeot 207 or Peugeot 208 ?

posted by Luca in: Hatchbacks Peugeot

Peugeot 208Our friends at Autoweek.nl has the scoop that the heir to the Peugeot 206 might be called Peugeot 208 (instead of the expected 207). Peugeot isn’t new to such model number jumps, and in this case it is said that the reason is to “mark the start of a new generation with a new stylistic identity”.

Mmmh. Peugeot must have some surprise in store, since everything seems to point to the 207/208 not being much of an esthetic novelty compared to the 206 (except for the family feeling “big mouth”, already seen on the 407 and 307).

Peugeot 1007: a flop ?

posted by Luca in: Peugeot

Peugeot 1007The latest editorial of the french magazine L’autojournal, signed Florian Chopin, has this title both provocative and disconcerting …

The problem is the lack of demand, which has forced a reduction in production numbers for the 1007 at the Peugeot factory in Poissy (Yvelines), down to 70,000 units yearly from the 130,000 units initially announced.

In truth, the direct french rival Renault Modus seems to suffer the same problems, with a lowered production volume of 123,000 units yearly. According to L’Autojournal, one of the problems might be the price, not exactly a bargain (between 12,900 and 21,700 euros for the Modus, between 13,750 and 17,850 euros for the 1007).

To put things in perspective: Renault now produces 500 units / day of the Modus (initially 1,300/day), while Peugeot produces 150 units / day of the 1007 (initially 300).

Peugeot 207 - not much is new

posted by Luca in: Hatchbacks Future Cars Peugeot

Peugeot 207Autocar has a spy-shot of the new Peugeot 207 caught testing in South Africa. A confirmation that not much is new with the small Peugeot hatchback, when confronted with the 206.

The main difference is the “big-mouth” air intake in front, which in my opinion risks taking the whole family feeling thing a bit too far. See other spyshots on Feline 207.
