Official images of the new Opel Corsa

Opel Corsa

Official photos of the new Opel/Vauxhall Corsa seem to be out, only in its three-door guise. It’s going to be produced in the spanish factory in Figueruelas (Saragoza).

Technical details are still scarce for now: it’s based on the same platform of the Fiat Grande Punto, with similar dimensions. The exterior is inspired on the Astra GTC, at least in the three door version. Internally it’s going to have new side-screen airbags and a color navigator with a bigger screen.

The engine range will include three naturally aspirated gasoline engines (1.0, 1.2 and 1.4 liters) and three turbo-diesel engines (1.3 CDTi with 75 and 90 hp, and 1.7 CDTi with 100 hp). Later, the Astra will get a 1.6 liters gasoline engine, both naturally aspirated and turbo-charged (with 180 hp, the same as Meriva OPC). Manual gearbox with 5 or 6 gears, or an automatic Easytronic transmission.

Opel Antara - first official photos

posted by Luca in: SUVs Announcements Opel/Vauxhall

Opel AntaraCarscoop has the first official photos of the Opel Antara, the new mid-size SUV from GM.

Sadly, this is little more than a rebadged Chevrolet Captiva, and it has nothing to do with the sleek Opel Antara / Saturn PreVue concept.

In the pictures you can see the Vauxhall version (english market), which differs from the Opel version only in the grille and in the driving position. Compared to the Chevrolet (Daewoo) Captiva the differences are little more: hood, headlights and rear lights, bumpers, third window and assorted details.

Four engines will be available initially (by the end of 2006): 1.8 Twinport with 140 ps, 3.2 V6 with 225 ps and a 2.0 liters turbo-diesel common rail engine with 130 or 150 ps

Opel GT - priced from 29,900 euro

posted by Luca in: Spider Future Cars Opel/Vauxhall

Opel GT

The Opel GT roadster will be on the market in Europe starting from march 2007, with prices starting from 29,900 €.

I’m a bit baffled by the long time between the introduction and its availability: it’s not as if Opel is inventing anything new, it’s (almost) a rebadged Saturn Sky.

Maybe it would have been better to present it first in concept form and then, at a later auto show present a different roadgoing version: when the GT will be finally available Opel will have to work hard to present it as a novelty …

It’s a shame, because the substance is very interesting. It’s a compact car (4.091 m, long, 1.813 m wide, 1.274 m high, the wheelbase is 2.415 m) and it’ll wegh, 1,320 kg. The 2.0 Turbo Ecotec engine has two counter-rotating shafts, twin scroll turbo-charger and outputs 260 ps. The GT will have a top speed “over 230 km/h” and will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than 6 seconds.

Below the fold you’ll find a couple of photos of the interior. Our Italian site also has some pictures of the Opel GT in Geneva.

Opel GT - official photos

posted by Luca in: Spider Opel/Vauxhall

Opel GTHere are the official photos of the Opel GT, the small RWD roadster that will be shown in Geneva. The third triplet, together with the Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice. Very aggressive. Maybe the angles are a bit too sharp, and those square exhaust tubes … mmmh).

Official data on performance is still missing, but the consensus is that with its 2.4 liter turbo engine (260 hp) the sprint from 0-100 km/h should be under 6 secondi while top speed should be about 240 km/h.

The Opel GT will be on the market in the spring of 2007, with a price around 27,000 €. [da Autoweek.nl].

Opel GT - new roadster in Geneva

posted by Luca in: Spider Future Cars Opel/Vauxhall

Opel GT

Opel shows us a teaser of its next roadster, the Opel GT, which will be shown in Geneva and will substitute the Speedster starting from the beginning of 2007.

In the photo above you can see the Opel GT, under the canvas and below its grandmother (the ‘65 Opel GT). It will be technically identical to the Pontiac Solstice and the Saturn Sky
: rear wheel drive, just under 4 meters long, with a weight around 1.300 kg.

What we want to know is: will it get the 2.4 4 cylinder turbo engine of the Solstice GXP, with its 260 hp and its 0-100 km/h sprint in 5,5 secondi ?

The fastest auto-journalists in Holland at Autoweek.nl compared the silhouette of the Solstice with that of the car under the canvas. Below the fold you can see the perfect fit.
