Salone di Ginevra 2009: Nissan Qazana Concept

Here we give you a full range of pics of the Nissan Qazana Concept presented at the Geneva show. The concept is not lacking in originality, although it might have a hard road gaining acceptance. This crossover is the next step on the road of the Qashqai, and provides an unusual raised platform designed in Europe. The compact form and SUV-style combination means Nissan could be developing a practical city car, but with an SUV market.

Nissan - Salone di Ginevra 2009

While the Nissan stand at the Geneva show might not be quite as sexy as the Ferrari, Audi or Maserati galleries, the 370Z still holds its own in terms of sports car fascination.

Nissan appeared with its Qazana concept, Cube and 370Z models, the latter making its first appearance in Europe. It is equipped with a V6 3.7 litre engine at 331hp with a new seven-speed automatic transmission.

posted by Alison in: Nissan Tech Concept Cars

Giugiaro Hybrid Concept Car 2009

To see the fastest hybrid car in the world, you would need to go the Geneva motor show for a look at this vehicle from the Giugaro family. Father Giorgietto and son Fabrizio, have designed this concept car that will be presented at the show under the name of Frazer Nash.

The new Giugiaro concept is similar to the Quaranta concept car seen at the Geneva show a year ago. Concepts of power and emotion have not previously been considered in the sector of hybrid cars, but this particular example will have a 3.3 V6 engine, with two electric engines.

An overall power of 272hp can be reached, with torque at 288Nm. It is all wheel drive and capable of reaching 100 km/hr in just 4.05 seconds. Maximum speed is 300 km/hr.

After the Nissan GT-R SpecV pics, here is the official video of the Japanese supercar presented on January 8.

If you weren’t convinced about oriental sportscars, the images of the SpecV screaming down the track might do the trick.

Nissan GT-R SpecV

The Nissan GT-R SpecV is finally ready for its debut and here we give you the official shots of this high powered Nissan performance vehicle and its carbon fibre exhaust. The aerodynamic aspects give the SpecV a different look to the standard version, along with carbon finishings and new air intakes for the brakes. Other elements include 20-inch Nismo alloy wheels and a specific “Ultimate Black Opal” colour in addition to other colour options.

Mechanically speaking, work has been carried out on the turbine pressure and overboost to improve torque, together with a titanium exhuast system with twin outlets. While no official news has been released on the power, it is expected to be about 480hp.

A new wheel base and carbon ceramic brakes complete the package, while weight has been reduced on the standard model, with rear seats eliminated and extensive use of carbon fibre for internal finishings. The seats are an ergonomic, racing, shell shape from Recaro.

New video: Nissan 370Z

posted by Alison in: Coupe Nissan Videos

Nissan has released the new promotional video of the Nissan 370Z, which should satisfy the interest generated by this new version, with its generous performance from the V6, 3.7L engine at 336hp. The Japanese technicians have focused on 360 degree driving pleasure and it will be interesting to see how it fares against the competition (the Porsche Cayman S comes to mind).

For details on its presentation, technical specs and new style, check out our Nissan 370Z previous posts.

Nissan GT-R production blocked

posted by Alison in: Nissan Super cars

NismoNissanGTR

Japanese dealers of the new supercar, Nissan GT-R, have been instructed not to take any further orders for the vehicle at this stage, due to possible production problems. The order to temporarily suspend orders relates to Japanese dealers only, leading to speculation that there is a probably with Japan-manufactered components.

Plenty of rumours abound as to the halt, but so far Nissan has released no official statement. The GT-R is currently beleaguered with a material price increase, claims of differences in Nurburgring lap times and a launch control transmission issue which doesn’t cover emission norms. Here’s hoping the problem doesn’t disperse to other GT-R production lines.

Nissan 370Z: new style theory

posted by Alison in: Coupe Nissan

nissan 370z

The Nissan 370Z will be revealed at the Los Angeles motor show in November and theories on the possible style of the 370Z are increasingly emerging. After recent spy shots, we give you this virtual reconstruction of the Japanese coupé from Jalopnik.

The car will have a 3.7 litre V6 engine at more than 330hp already seen on the more easygoing Infiniti models. Manual transmission will be available, along with a seven speed automatic, of Infiniti origin as well.

The 370Z will be a step in an evolution into the next generation with smaller dimensions than the 350Z, while the interior is likely to remain more or less as is in terms of style, with perhaps some changes in the quality of materials used.

Waiting for Los Angeles: Nissan 370Z

posted by Alison in: Coupe Nissan

Nissan 370Z

While looking at these photos, we’re impatient for October 29 when Nissan will release the official shots of the new 370Z: after the Edmunds reportage, we’re very curious to get a glimpse of this redesigned supercar.

While a Japanese supercar might not light your fire like a German or Italian model, Nissan has really put some effort into this little number. The look shows a deep evolution on the current model and we think the new style is praise-worthy - it’s less muscly and more elegant than previously thought. Edmunds has done plenty of hypothesising on the technical specs of this vehicle, but we will have to wait for official details on November 11.

Nissan GT-R V-Spec: get out the stop-watch

NissanGTRVSpec

As if the GT-R wasn’t extreme enough, according to Motorauthority, the Japanese have upped the ante with a V-Spec version that’s lighter and more powerful. This could really challenge for the title of fastest car on the ‘Ring, and if we’re lucky, we’ll be seeing it at the Paris motor show.

Up to 100hp have been added to the Spec-V, in addition to a carbon fit-out that will give it an edge in terms of weight. The tuner, Nismo, has worked on this prototype, spotted at the Nurburgring, and the debut of the final vehicle is expect for 2009.
