posted by Luca in: Future Cars Mini

Mini Cooper DAccording to Car magazine, Mini will be showing a Cooper Diesel at the next Geneva auto show, with Peugeot 1.6 liter HDi engine, with 110 ps, a turbo-diesel engine more in keeping with the sporty aspirations of the Mini, compared to the Toyota-sourced 1.4-liter engine which equipped the Mini One D: it should take less than 10 seconds to go from 0-100 km/h, at least a couple of seconds less than the One D.

BMW 3 Series - more spyshots

BMW E92 3-Series

Robert from Graz has taken some spyshots of a (very) lightly camouflaged BMW 3-series E92 coupè in Munich and posted them on E90Post.

Only the front and rear lights’ contours are masked with some tape, so this is pretty much it. He even took a shot of the interior.

I wrote him and he told me something interesting: he lives in Graz, Magna Steyr’s hometown, and he has seen some Mini prototypes with Munich plates driving in the street with masked lights. His conjecture is that Magna Steyr is working on a 4WD Mini on BMW’s behalf, because otherwise there would be no reason for their presence in Graz. I’m very curious to see what comes of this.

Upgrade for the Mini JCW GP

posted by Luca in: Future Cars Mini

Mini Cooper S - JCW GPMotoring File writes that the Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works GP Tuning Kit might get an upgrade, to appease Mini fans worlwide, who were disappointed with the paltry power gains (218 hp, +9) and weight savings (-40 kg) on the “stock” Mini JCW.

Thus, BMW might have a surprise in Geneva, with a further hp injection (the target seems to be 230 hp) a more aggressive diet, with the use of aluminium body panels, and a more “cohesive” look.

MINI Cooper S - John Cooper Works GP Tuning Kit

Mini Cooper S GPMore power, less weight, and the longest name: Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works GP Tuning Kit.

The 1.6 engine has been squeezed until it gives 214,5 hp (245 Nm max torque). En attendant the english press kit, it seems from the German one that the Mini GP weighs about 40 kg less than the normal Mini JCW, thanks to the omission of things like the air conditioning (you can have it back without surcharge), some noise isolation and the back seat.
