An original car: Lancia develops the Aprilia Sport Zagato

posted by Alison in: Lancia

Zagato Lancia Aprilia Sport

We had already shown off Zagato’s initiative to give life to a replica of the Lancia Aprilia Sport, with few examples built and all of them lost. Rather than the initial data made public, we’ll focus on the mechanics and Zagato’s public relations department has officially announced that the chassis and mechanics will be the same as the original Lancia Aprilia.

Information on this version of the Sport has not been released yet, though the series will have a limited availability at a cost of about 150,000 euro for collectors of the Italian brand.

Lancia Delta: Official Brochure reveals Pricing

posted by roland in: Lancia Hatchbacks

Lancia Delta 2008

We are still waiting for the final material, but after having seen the three official photos that have provoked a widespread debate amongst readers of our Italian blog, new information has begun circulating in the form of a brochure revealing, in part, the pricing of the new Lancia Delta.

A pricing hierarchy of three specification levels will apparently be proposed: the Argento (silver), Oro (gold) and Platino (platinum) each with differing degrees of equipment and finish. The 120bhp 1.4 T-Jet turbocharged gasoline engine will probably not be available in the top-spec Platino version, for which the 190 ps 1.9 Multijet twin-stage turbo-diesel is expected to be finally put under an Italian hood (it was first used in the Saab 9-3 in a 180 ps power-step).

Lancia Delta HPE: final styling unveiled?

posted by Fabio Sciarra in: Lancia Hatchbacks Future Cars

Lancia Delta Hpe

The image above should depict the definitive styling of the Lancia Delta HPE 2008. It will have to raise again Lancia’s reputation in the hard C-segment, after the unforgettable 80’s Delta left the market never being replaced by a model which could repeat its success.

The all-new Lancia Delta will be based on the Fiat Bravo’s platform, but it will be quite a bit longer and it will feature a completely different styling, very similar to the concept’s. The two most important car’s features will be the elegant italian-flavoured style and the attention to detail and assembling quality.

The photograph comes from the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (Trade Marks and Designs)

Lancia Thema 2010: renderings from InfoMotori.com

Lancia Thema 2010 renderings

It is very hard to forget a car like Lancia Thema, one of the best luxury sedans ever made in italian automotive history. Especially since it has been replaced by two models that have not been able to repeat the commercial success of the foregoing car.

Obviously we are talking about the Lancia K and the Lancia Thesis both of which played an important role during the decline of the charming italian brand.

Thanks to the financial situation of Fiat Group, which is finally healthy, it is now possible to dream of such a remake, that will surely touch many Lancia aficionados’ hearts.

Lancia Delta HPE Concept - official images

Lancia Delta HPE Concept

Finally, the official images of the Lancia Delta HPE Concept. As often happens, they come from abroad before being released by the Fiat press office. The Delta Concept should be shown in public for the first time at the next Paris auto show, while production should start sometime in 2008.

The Delta concept is 4.50 meters long di lunghezza, 1.80 meters wide and 1.50 meters high, while the wheelbase is 2.70 meters long. The trunk has a capacity of 400 liters.

The design, by the Centro Stile Lancia is partly inspired on the Beta HPE of the seventies. With this car Lancia aims to offer very high levels of comfort and luxury for a hatchback. Legroom for the rear passengers can be increased by moving the rear seat, while the interior is decorated with wood veneers, leather, chromed metal and alcantara. The engines of the production Delta should start from 120 hp (probably the new 1.6 liters JTD turbo-diesel engine) and go up to over 200 hp (probably a 4 cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine).

New Lancia Delta - the rear

Lancia nuova Delta

Autoinsight.it has another image of the new Lancia Delta, this one from the rear. We’ve already shown you an image of the the front of the car.

If the car shown next tuesday in Venice will be like the one in the computer-generated images, the new Delta might be a pretty singular car, with some citations of previous Lancia concept cars and of Lancia cars of old.

Is this the new Lancia Delta HPE ?

posted by Luca in: Lancia Hatchbacks Future Cars

Lancia Delta HPE

On the 5th of September Lancia will be announcing its future plans at the Biennale del Cinema di Venezia. And, according to the Autoinsight blog, it will be showing a concept car that anticipates the new Lancia Delta HPE.

The picture above might be a photoshop, but it’s fairly plausible. The Lancia Delta HPE should be based on a stretched Fiat Bravo platform and it should be about 4.50 meters long. The engines should include three turbo-charged gasoline engines (1.4 Turbo with 120 and 150 ps, 1.8 Turbo with 190 ps) and two turbo-diesel engines (1.6 with 120 ps and 2.0 with 165 ps).

The new Delta should be on the market by the second half of 2008. We should know more by next tuesday.

Sketches of the Delta 2007 from the Centro Stile Lancia

Lancia Delta 2007

Some sketches of the Lancia Delta said to come out of the Centro Stile Lancia have started circulating.

While good looking and aggressive in the sketches, it’s a bit less good looking in the 3D images, maybe because the lack of rendering of the glass and metal surfaces makes it less easy to understand the relation between surfaces and volumes.

It’s easy to see the family feeling with the original Delta and with the concept Granturismo Stilnovo.

No guarantees that the sketches will bear any relation to the new Lancia Delta which should debut in 2007.

Marchionne interview: future plans for Alfa, Lancia and Maserati

posted by Luca in: Alfa Romeo Lancia Maserati Future Cars

Sergio MarchionneOn Crisalide Press we found an extract from an Automotive News Europe interview to Sergio Marchionne, Fiat CEO. The part about the future of the Lancia, Alfa Romeo and Maserati brands is interesting.

In brief: Lancia will keep making “luxury” versions of Fiat cars, while Alfa and Maserati will collaborate in developing new models and share platforms. In particular, the Premium Platform (159 and Brera) will be used by Maserati to develop new models: probably a baby-Spider costing 80.000 € and maybe a baby-Quattroporte. Sadly for Alfa Lovers, no certainties about the opposite: using the next Quattroporte platform for the Alfa 169.

Read the rest of the post for the extracts from the interview.
