Here’s a live video of the Alfa Giulietta at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, courtesy of our colleagues at Autoblog.it. The competition is fierce for the new Alfa hatchback, with the Giulietta up against hugely successful models like the Audi A3 and the Volkswagen Golf. The 147 replacement is a good looking model, though, and has plenty of Alfa engine technology and performance to boot. See our post for official Giulietta pricing, and our analysis of the Giulietta competitors.
Here are live pics of Volkswagen at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, and a gallery of the 2010 Volkswagen Touareg after the jump. Much like its German counterpart, BMW at Geneva, Volkswagen is focussing on its green credentials for the environment, or blue in this case, with its Bluetec models. The new Touareg Hybrid was on display, for example, which weighs 208 kg less than the original version. With its V6 333 hp engine combined with an electric motor of 47 hp, it should compete directly with the BMW X6 hybrid, and the Audi Q5 hybrid.
Other models on show at the 2010 Geneva motor show from Volkswagen include the Amarok pick-up and the Polo GTI, which is more economical than the previous version despite an increase of 30 hp. The CrossPolo also debuted, which can only be described as a hatchback soft off-road model.
Below is a full gallery of the 2010 Volkswagen Touareg, which could be quite a successful model for the brand in the future. It is roomy, with more luxury internal finishings than the previous generation, and large boot capacity. The Touareg is already available on the German market, costing 50,700 euros for the entry level model, and 73,500 euros for the top-of-the-range Touareg Hybrid. The 4.2-litre TDI V8 costs 70,800 euros. Click on the galleries for more pics.

The Alfa Giulietta price is more competitive than first thought, which is a big step in the right direction for the future success of the Giulietta. We don’t yet know what the details are of the “Progression” and “Distinctive” packages are, but the Giulietta nudges the premium market with some very good prices.
The Alfa Giulietta 1.4 TB with 120 hp (Progression) is the entry level model with 20,300 euros, while the “Distinctive” kit costs an extra 1,700 euros. The new Multiair engine option is really a steal on the Giulietta with the 1.4 TB Multiair with 170 hp costing 22,000 euros in Progression or 23,700 euros in Distinctive.
The top-of-the-range fuel model Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde with 235 hp costs just under 30,000 euros. The diesel range is also looking competitive with the 1.6 JTDm-2 with 105 hp costing 22,300 euros, and the JTDm-2 with 170 hp costing 25,700 euros. If you’re interested in the Sport Pack, 17-inch and 18-inch alloy wheels are available at 1,700 and 2,000 euros extra, respectively. All the Alfa Giulietta pricing details are after the jump.

The Abarth Punto Evo and Abarth 500C were the only models occupying the Abarth stand at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, but we think the Punto Evo and the SS certainly make up for the lack of anything else. The Punto Evo is equipped with the 1.4-litre Multiair ’standard’ engine with 165 hp, while the Abarth Punto SS model has 180 hp and more aggressive styling, including 18-inch alloy wheels and brake cooling outlets. The Abarth Punto Evo also debuts with new “manettino” feature in front of the gear stick, which manages the engine, brakes and steering modes in Sport and Normal.
The Abarth 500C is one very chic, hot little cabrio for your city ride, equipped with the 1.4 T-Jet with 140 hp. It’s on show in a black-white colour combo, which is the only alternative to the grey tint seen in the official Abarth 500C pics. It comes with two transmission options: the ‘Abarth Competizione’ five-speed gearbox, or the MTA electro-automatic with steering wheel paddles. According to the press conference, the Abarth 500C will also get its own SS version, but no further information was available. The Punto Evo and 500C will both be available on sale from May this year.
The pricing of the Alfa Giulietta has been leaked on the web, although we’re talking speculation at this stage, and nothing official as yet. The guys at Autoblog.it have revealed the Giulietta, in its local market in Italy, could cost about 26,000 euros for the 2.0-litre JTD with 170 hp. They make the price comparison below of vehicles on the Italian market, chosing three door, mostly entry level models (although this logic is questionable as the Giulietta is strictly a five door model). See what you think about the Alfa Giulietta pricing, and have another look at the Giulietta live pics below.
Alfa Romeo Giulietta: 2.0 JTD, 170 hp 26,000 euro
Audi A3: 2.0 TDI, 140 hp 28,180 euro

The Citroen DS3 Racing appeared alongside the concept models Citroen DS High Rider and Citroen Survolt at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The Survolt concept is a compact, ecological coupé that almost puts us in mind of a mini-Veyron, especially in the rear. It’s another take on the Citroen Revolte (with a wonderful change in name), which was first presented at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.
For hot hatch fans, the nasty Citroen DS3-R will initially have a production run of 1,000 units, and you can get a closer look at the lairy model in these live pics from Geneva (more official pics to come). The DS High Rider is a crossover-coupé model with diesel-hybrid power train. It’s the same system that next year’s Citroen DS5 will run off.

The Alfa Giulietta in white or the Alfa Giulietta in red….? There was never any doubt that the Alfa Giulietta would be a sexy car at the Geneva show, and the 147 replacement looks like it could hold its own among the Giulietta competition, aesthetically at least. The big question is whether it will be enough for Sergio Marchionne. In a year marking 100 years of Alfa the main goal is to be a crowd pleaser, and sell while you’re at it.
The Alfa Giulietta comes with some impressive engine options - the new 1.4-litre Multiair with 170 hp, for example, or the 1.4 T-Jet with 120 hp. But if you want the superfast, sports model in true Alfa Romeo tradition, you’ve just got to go for the Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde, with its four-cylinder engine with 235 hp. It has a top speed of 242 km/hr and can reach 100 km/hr in 6.8 seconds. Check her out in these lovely Giulietta live pics.

This week’s 2010 Geneva Motor Show will see the new Abarth Fiat line-up on display with the Abarth 500C and Abarth Punto Evo announced. The Abarth 500C is the first open top version for the tuning company, and will be equipped with the 1.4-litre T-Jet engine with 140 hp and 206 Nm of torque. It comes with either the “Abarth Competizione” transmission with five speeds, or the MTA gearbox with steering wheel paddles.
The Abarth 500C can reach 100 km/hr in 8.1 seconds and has a top speed of 205 km/hr. Fuel consumption is 6.5 litres for every 100 km, while CO2 emissions measure 155 g/km. It has the Torque Transfer Control system (TTC) which manages torque distribution and acts like an autobloc differential.
The Abarth Punto Evo is a strong offering from the company, with the impressive 1.4-litre Multiair featuring with 165 hp and 250 Nm of torque. It has a six-speed manual transmission and reaches 100 km/hr in 7.9 seconds with a top speed of 213 km/hr. With its Start/Stop technology, it complies with Euro 5 norms and consumes six litres of fuel for every 100 km and has CO2 emissions of 142 g/km.

New pics of the Alfa Giulietta have been released as it nears its 2010 Geneva Motor Show debut. New technical details have also been made available for the first “Compact” platform model for Fiat, known as the C-Evo. While still adopting some aspects of the Fiat Bravo and Lancia Delta platform, the Alfa Giulietta is different for its suspension and its Dual Pinion steering. It also adopts the Alfa DNA programming which debuted on the Alfa MiTo, with Normal, Dynamic and All Weather set-ups.
The Alfa Giulietta replaces the Alfa 147 and includes classic Alfa design on a slightly larger hatchback. Debuting at the Geneva Motor Show will be five different Alfa Giulietta models: two Quadrifoglio Verde versions equipped with the 1750 TBi at 235 hp and 340 Nm of torque; two “Distinctive” versions with the 2.0-litre JTDM engine, 170 hp and 350 Nm; and another “Distinctive” version fitted with the exciting 1.4 Multiair Turbo petrol engine with 170 hp and 250 Nm.
The engine range available at launch includes the diesel option 1.6-litre JTDm with 105 hp and 320 Nm of torque, and a final petrol engine version available will also be the 1.4 TB with 120 hp. The entire range is equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the Multiair and 2.0-litre diesel will have the new TCT dual clutch transmission.

These two videos show the new Alfa Giulietta on the snow in cold weather testing, although it’s still heavily camouflaged. The Giulietta will be officially presented at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and while some official pics have already been released, we’re still waiting on a full set of pics of the new hatch. We should get a closer look in March and will have all the details on the model, which will be important to Alfa Romeo’s future fortunes and in gaining the confidence of Marchionne in the brand. It’s all down to what is undoubtedly a sexy Alfa, but with no guarantee of success. The second video is after the jump.
