These two spy shots taken around Crewe, show the first steps of the next Bentley Arnage, the limousine at the top of the range for the aristocratic English brand, set to be revealed in 2010.

As shown by the images, the new Arnage will be even bigger than the current model: the widened B pillar a clear indication that the wheel base has been increased and therefore also interior space. But the real news seems to be that under the bonnet, where a possible diesel motor will be placed, will be the V12 TDI from the Audi R8 Concept revealed in Detroit.

Outside of the “heresy” of this technical choice, it should be said that the manufacturers of the supercar will have to comply with the next EU laws regarding emissions: in addition to guaranteeing compliance with future legislation, a diesel engine could also create the right torque traditionally requested of the Bentley.

Regarding the question of engines, back in vogue is the hypothetical W16 for the sporty Arnage T version: the Veyron engine, despite statements from management, still has a chance.

At the Geneva show our Dutch colleagues at Auto Week tested the waters of the Bentley company but received a blunt “no to a Bentley Arnage W16″. Rumours of using a W16 Bugatti Veyron engine on the luxurious English sedan had been circulating for some time but the project now appears shelved indefinitely.

The denial of a similar prospect arrived from Franz-Josef Paefgen, CEO of Bentley Motors and Bugatti President, who added that regarding another supposed engine project, “adopting a diesel motor on a Bentley is still undecided”.

We’ll have to wait then for a few months and a different market survey to see whether a Bentley driven by a V12 TDI from Audi will ever exist.

This first spy-shot of the Bentley Havana coupe shows us a glimpse of the future luxury 4-seater from Bentley.

The Havana should be shown next march in Geneva and it will be a concept car prefiguring the coupè version of the Azure Convertible.

The Havana will be a hefty coupe (more than 5 meters long), weighing around 2.5 tons, but the bi-turbocharged 6.75-liters V8 engine should be up to the task of powering this car, with its 450 ps and 645 Nm of torque.

According to Automobilwoche, Bentley is considering a coupè version of its gorgeous Azure Convertible (which you can see in these pictures).

Bentley firmly denied having any project of a four-door coupè based on the Continental Flying Spur to rival the Porsche Panamera or the Aston Martin Rapide.

What is under consideration is the adoption of Variable Turbin Geometry, similar to what is used on the Porsche 997 Turbo, which could result in the 6.0 liters W12 engine of the Continental GT outputting more than 700 hp (up from 560 hp). Hybrids and diesel engines are not under consideration at the moment, but could be in the future, if the demand is strong.
